Plane passenger sparks outrage over ‘disgusting’ airport action: ‘Bleach my eyes’

Airports are a world of possibilities; the beginning of the holidays, the reunion of loved ones, and also extremely rude behavior.

A plane passenger was horrified to see someone clipping her toenails in the lounge doing personal grooming while waiting for her flight.

The move was captured in a post on Reddit, with slides on the floor where the gentleman in question propped his foot on an airport seat to cut his nails.

‘It made my eyes go white,’ said a Reddit user.

Users were both horrified and amused by the image and shared their thoughts online.

‘To be fair, he does want his feet to look good when he puts them on the floor in front of him.’ one user joked.

‘My unfiltered mouth would loudly say: ‘This is so gross, man! but then I’d regret it being so noisy,’ claimed one pamphlet.

‘I once saw someone do this on a plane. “I almost opened the emergency door and threw them out, but I wanted to get to my destination safely,” another shared.

“There must legitimately be something wrong with your mind for you to think it’s acceptable to cut your disgusting nails in public and leave what you’ve cut behind,” another lamented.

Another said: ‘As a society, we need to bring back public shaming.’

Earlier, etiquette expert and owner of the Texas School of Protocol, Diane Gottsman, told Dailymail.com that practicing personal hygiene in public places should be avoided.

‘It’s disturbing when someone brushes their hair next to you and it flies into another person’s public space,’ he said.

Airfield grooming is a hot topic, with a passenger brushing his hair in first class sparking a heated argument earlier this week.

A woman shared a video of herself combing her hair in business class, revealing another passenger giving her dirty looks in the background.

She captioned her post: “I’m minding my business in business class while my aunt is giving me dirty looks.”

In the video, the woman is seen brushing her hair, tying it back and relaxing in her spacious first class seat.

A later post on Reddit captured the scene of the gentleman in question clipping his nails on plastic airport seats, with slides on the floor.

As she combed her hair for the video, another woman was seen looking at her in shock and disgust.

The original creator turned off comments on her post, but an Instagram account reposted the video with the caption, ‘I just want to brush my hair in peace.’

The controversy sparked a swift backlash online, with many commenting on whether this was appropriate behavior.

Elaine Swann, founder of the Swann School of Protocol and a former flight attendant, told the Washington Post that passengers should be aware of their space on the plane.

‘I think people forget that they’re still in a public setting,’ he said. ‘We are on the plane and the plane is small. This feels like our own space. It’s not going out or walking in the mall or anything, but the plane is still a public environment.’
