German Scholz Seeks India’s Support in Ending the Russia-Ukraine War

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed today to strengthen strategic ties, increase trade and promote a free and secure Indo-Pacific region. The two leaders held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi. This meeting took place at a time when the West was aiming to counter China’s growing influence in the region. Scholz also asked for help from India to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. India responded by saying it was ready to contribute to peace efforts. At the meeting, India and Germany signed a series of agreements to deepen cooperation in defence, information technology, clean energy, skill development and artificial intelligence. Berlin has announced that it is open to selling defense equipment to New Delhi. Could these agreements form the basis of a long-term partnership between India and Germany? Palki Sharma tells you.
