Suspect in shooting on Bobby Donaldson Boulevard surrenders

Akeino Dickerson turned himself in to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday. He is currently charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Cocaine.

Akeino Dickerson, the man wanted for a shooting on Bobby Donaldson Boulevard in Statesboro on October 23, 2024, surrendered to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office on October 27. Dickerson was returned to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is currently being held pending further judicial proceedings. .

On October 23, 2024 at 8:50 p.m., Statesboro Police Department officers responded to the area of ​​Bobby Donaldson Boulevard in Statesboro for a female who had been shot. Officers located the 24-year-old female victim and provided assistance until she was transported via emergency room to East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

The victim was later taken to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, where he was treated and released. Detectives responded and determined the woman was shot by her ex-boyfriend, Akeino Dickerson, 41, Statesboro.

A search warrant was executed at Dickerson’s area home by SPD’s SWAT Team, and vital evidence was seized by detectives during the subsequent search. Dickerson was not found at that location at that time.
