SCOM stock prices began to rise in early October and were trading at KSh16.50 at market close on Friday, October 25, and at market open on Monday, October 28.

While the stock gained 5.68% in value last week, it increased by 11.30% last month and 10.93% in the last three months. This steady upward trend indicates positive short-term momentum.

However, when viewed over a longer period of time, performance becomes mixed. Year-to-date, Safaricom’s shares are up 34%, reflecting a strong recovery.

However, it experienced a significant decline of 60.12 percent last year and is still below its three-year target of 41.64 percent. Despite these losses, five-year performance remains positive with an increase of 20.50%.

Safaricom published annual reports and financial year statements 2024 data showing the top 10 shareholders holding common stock and the corresponding number of shares held as of March 31, 2024.

In total, there are 535,806 shareholders holding a total of 40,065,428,000 shares across all categories, representing 100% of the company’s shares. Below is a list of the largest Safaricom shareholders and the number of common shares each holds:

The majority of shares are concentrated in the top tranche, where just two shareholders control 74.93% of the total shares.

Most shareholders own a relatively small number of shares; the largest group (351,490 shareholders) holds between 1 and 1,000 shares, accounting for only 0.52% of the total.

As the shareholding range increases, the number of shareholders decreases, but the percentage of total shares held increases.

Specifically, 185 shareholders hold between 10,000,001 and 100,000,000 shares, and they collectively own 11.72% of the company. Additionally, an even smaller group of 11 shareholders owns between 100,000,001 and 1,000,000,000 shares, representing 5.36% of the company’s total shareholding.

Top 20 Kenya Power shareholders

Previously, TUKO.co.ke It reported that the top 20 Kenya Energy shareholders: HE Kenya Power Its shares rose to their highest price in five years, closing at KSh 3.62 on September 23 and KSh 3.42 on September 27.

National Treasury remains the largest shareholder of Kenya Power, holding 50.09% of the total shares. Kenya Power has a total of 1,953,617,045 shares, with East African institutional shareholders holding the largest share at 64.64%.
