‘Crime 101’ Thriller Adds Corey Hawkins

SPECIAL: Corey Hawkins (Piano Lesson) has joined the cast to star in Bart Layton’s thriller Crime 101Based on the novella by Don Winslow. Amazon MGM Studios.

The plot of the film and his role, like all parts so far, are secret. The novella follows Davis, a master jewel thief planning a high-risk diamond heist along the Pacific Coast Highway, who gets involved in a cat-and-mouse chase with a private LAPD detective named Lou Lubesnick after making what he hopes will be his final score before disappearing. Definitely.

Pic’s star cast also includes Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry and Monica Barbaro.

Layton is directing the film, which is scheduled for theatrical release, from his own script. Producers: Living Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner; Shane Salerno of The Story Factory; RAW’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis; Derrin Schlesinger; and Wild State’s Hemsworth and Ben Grayson. RAW’s Joely Fether will executive produce.

He is an Emmy and two-time Tony Award-nominated actor known for his breakthrough role. Straight Outta ComptonHawkins leaves roles at Warners Color Purple and Uni Demeter’s Last Journey. He will later star alongside Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington. Piano LessonThe Malcolm Washington adaptation of the August Wilson Play will be released in select theaters on November 8th and will begin streaming on Netflix on November 22nd.
