Wall Township Resident Pleads Guilty to Motor Vehicle Theft

Toms River, NJ – Jaquel Accoo, 29, of Wall Township, pleaded guilty to motor vehicle theft and witness tampering. This plea was entered before Judge David M. Fritch, JSC, regarding an incident that occurred in Toms River in October 2023. At sentencing on Jan. 3, 2025, the state will recommend a five-year sentence on each charge. He will be tried concurrently at the New Jersey State Prison.

A person reported his motor vehicle stolen on October 14, 2023, at the Toms River Township Police Department. The investigation revealed that Accoo did not return the borrowed vehicle and sold it to a person in Georgia. This led to theft charges being filed against Accoo on November 22, 2023.

A warrant was issued for Accoo’s arrest and he was placed in the National Crime Information Center database. The New York/New Jersey United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, captured Accoo on January 22, 2024, in Red Bank. He was released under New Jersey Bail Reform.
