EC police investigating murder of local royal family member and rape of 5 students

JOHANNESBURG – Eastern Cape police are investigating two crimes including the rape and robbery of five school children.

In Mqhekezweni, just outside Mthatha, students were attacked at gunpoint throughout the night.

The other case involves Nogcinile Mtirara, head of the local royal family, who was shot by two men wearing balaclavas on Tuesday.

The circumstances behind both attacks are unknown.

“Both investigating teams will leave no stone unturned to ensure these perpetrators are brought to justice.
