Two arrests following car theft in Welshpool

Two arrests following car theft in WelshpoolTwo arrests have been made following the latest car theft in town Monday night.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they were informed at 9.30am on Tuesday morning that a car had been taken from a property on Church Road in Welshpool the previous night.

Within 45 minutes the car was stopped and arrests were made.

“The stolen car was spotted and stopped on the A470 near Llandinam at around 10.15am. A police spokesman said both people in the vehicle were arrested.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, drugged driving and other traffic offences. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.

“Both have been released on conditional bail pending further police investigation.”

There was growing concern in the town last week, with reports on social media of bikes and a car being stolen, and readers telling us other cars in and around the town had been broken into or tampered with.

The advice, as always, is to ensure that the property is kept as safe as possible.
