Wike distributes new vehicles to Abuja youths

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday distributed 80 vehicles to youths in the nation’s capital.

Speaking during the flag raising exercise that concluded the Minister’s nine-day project launches, Wike emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the lives of FCT youths through the Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative.

He said the vehicles, comprising 30 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), 30 seven-seater Suzuki Minibuses and 20 14-seater Hiace buses, would provide employment opportunities to the youth and also reduce transportation costs in the FCT.

The minister added that the brand new vehicles were provided free of charge by the government to provide livelihood to beneficiaries in the six district councils of the FCT. He asked the beneficiaries to use the vehicles for the purpose for which they were provided.

The FCT Minister said: “These are brand new vehicles and they do not cost a penny. We are not saying pay money to the state. The government says this is our support to make sure you have something to feed, to make sure you can support your family, and also to reduce the cost of transportation in the city.
