Stamford man identified in fatal front-end loader incident

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Stamford police say a 64-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck by a front-end loader.

Police said Gary Deleo was shot around 8 a.m. while helping a customer at a business on Magee Boulevard.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The front-end loader was operated by a 28-year-old Stamford resident at the time. News 8 is not identifying him because no charges have been filed. He cooperated with the investigation, according to police.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident with assistance from Stamford police.
