Myth:
You should vote strictly along party lines.
facts
You can vote for any candidate you want. However, you cannot vote for the same candidate across more than one party line. In Borough Park, for example, Simcha Felder is listed on more than one party line. Voting for him more than once will invalidate your vote.

Myth:
If you suspect poll workers are directing voters on how to vote, take photos.
facts
New York City has strict laws against taking photos at polling places to protect voter privacy and prevent intimidation. Instead, get their names and report your concerns to the Board of Elections.

Myth:
New York requires voters to show identification when voting.
facts
New York does not require voters to show identification when voting. However, if the voter does not present a valid identification document during registration, he/she must present identification at the polling place when voting for the first time.
