Theft suspect was caught in Oğuz

The Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested 26-year-old Segun Owoduti, a member of a three-man armed robbery gang that was terrorizing residents of Sagamu Local Government Area.

While Owoduti was arrested on Wednesday along the Agbele-Igbepe route, two others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The command’s public relations officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Thursday and said the gang specialized in using motorcycles to steal valuables from victims.

Odutola said: “A daring armed robbery attempt in Sagamu on October 30, 2024 was thwarted by swift police response. Thanks to timely tip-off from residents, the Sagamu Regional Police Officer was able to mobilize officers to apprehend one suspect, including one-year-old Segun Owoduti, while two others He escaped with gunshot wounds.

The drama unfolded around 6:50pm when police patrols at High Court Agbele Road received information about a three-man robbery gang operating along the Agbele-Igbepe route. The gang, known for using motorcycles to target unsuspecting victims, were spotted by officers, prompting them to flee on their Bajaj motorcycle with registration number KJA 568 OM.

“A hot pursuit ensued which resulted in the successful arrest of Owoduti. “Unfortunately, his accomplices managed to escape into nearby bushes and treat his gunshot wounds.”

He stated that preliminary investigations are ongoing and once the initial investigations are completed, the case will be transferred to SCID Abeokuta.
