Chautauqua County man sentenced to 7 years in prison for burglary

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Forestville man was sentenced to seven years in prison Wednesday after being indicted on burglary charges in February and pleading guilty to attempted burglary in July, according to the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say 56-year-old Gary Lang “terrorized” neighborhoods in Fredonia, Portland and Pomfret between Christmas week 2023 and New Year’s week 2024, looking for valuables to steal from vehicles and homes.

He was indicted by a grand jury in February on charges of second-degree burglary, attempted second-degree burglary, attempted petit larceny and trespassing.

Lang pleaded guilty in July to attempted second-degree burglary in a plea that included other charges.

Lang was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
