Virginia Organizing offers voting resources to River City Breadbasket residents

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) – In Waynesboro, the River City Breadbasket (RCBB) provided residents with basic information about tenants’ rights, voting day resources and other critical areas of advocacy during a Halloween-themed community event.

Bread Basket Outreach Director AJ Young Jr. explained the importance of such meetings. RCBB formed a partnership Virginia Organization Discuss voting and election participation during this event. Chapter member Andrea Jackson emphasized the need for civic education.

“What we’re doing is trying to educate people in a nonpartisan way about what’s going on in local elections,” Jackson said.

Young said the initiative reinforces the mission of supporting the neighborhood and fosters a sense of community involvement.

“It’s exciting to have them here with us, sharing with our guests and letting them know that advocacy is out there,” Young said, “efforts to try to help their lives go a little more smoothly.”

Located in Ward A in the city of Waynesboro, River City Bread Basket helps round out local tables by operating as a grocery store of choice for customers. Jackson emphasized that events like this are vital to residents of Ward A and encouraged community members to participate in the election process to ensure their concerns are addressed. While the River City Breadbasket continues to serve as a vital resource, it reminds residents to take advantage of information and support opportunities.

River City Bread Basket is at 505 N. Winchester Ave. in Waynesboro. It is located at and is open between 16:30 – 19:00 on Thursdays, 10:00 – 14:00 on Fridays and 10:00 – noon on the first Saturday of each month. There are no eligibility requirements and RCBB is open to all residents of Virginia.
