Fast food worker pleads guilty to car theft and dangerous driving that injured victim in Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — A fast food restaurant employee pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to charges of stealing a car and causing serious injury to a man by dangerously driving the rental car.

Muhammad Wan Azhar Azman, 20, entered his defense after the two charges were read to him before Judge Azrul Darus.

The court did not grant bail to Muhammad Wan Azhar and fixed the date of December 2 for the probation report on the facts of the case and the sentencing of the accused.

In the first instance, Muhammad Wan Azhar of Perak was charged under Article 379A of the Penal Code with stealing the Honda Civic belonging to D. Joshua Jeyaseelan, 30, at Lebuh Perdana Timur traffic lights, Zone 15, Putrajaya, from 3.40pm onwards. to 16:00 last October 23.

The crime carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and is punishable by a fine.

Muhammad Wan Azhar was also accused of driving dangerously and Joshua’s partner Mohamed Jalil Iskandar, 28, who was clinging to the vehicle, was ejected, causing serious injuries.

In accordance with Article 307 of the Criminal Code, the crime of attempted murder was committed at the same place, date and time.

He faced up to 20 years in prison.

The prosecution included Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Aisyah Mohamed Zanyuin, while Muhammad Wan Azhar was not represented. — Bernama
