He will remain at Sporting CP for a further three matches before officially taking charge of United on 11 November, before making his debut against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on 24 November.

But Muisala’s former club Chelsea, Liverpool, real Madrid and United are also following.

A move for Musiala by United would be an ambitious move given the current situation and would be a real coup if they could pull off a shock deal.

Musiala started the new season in good form with four goals and one assist in six Bundesliga matches under Vincent Kompany.

Musiala, whose situation was asked last month said German media noted that he was “very happy” to be in Bavaria, but “some things can always change quickly in the football world.”
