Arrests after attempted robbery led to stabbing

Two suspects were detained regarding the stabbing of a person on the street.

At around 18:25 GMT on Sunday, officers were called to Marmion Road in Thorneywood, Nottinghamshire, following reports that a teenager riding an e-scooter was being chased by a group of teenagers trying to rob him.

Police say a man suffered a serious stab wound to the abdomen shortly after responding to nearby Beecham Avenue and was in a serious but stable condition at hospital.

An 18-year-old man was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and a 58-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime and criminal damage.

While the man was detained in police custody, the woman was released while the investigation continued.

Police added that detectives were analyzing CCTV footage and carrying out a house-to-house investigation in the area.

Det Sgt Hannah Frame said: “We know this incident has caused concern in the neighbourhood, so I am pleased we can share this important update.

“Neighborhood teams also conducted additional patrols to provide support to the community.

“A man remains in hospital with a serious injury and it is still vital that anyone with information comes forward and shares this with officers.”

Police are appealing for CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage and are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
