UBL’s Bell ObaFest promotes responsible drinking and 100% environmental sustainability with over 6,000 attendees

KAMPALA, UGANDA | INDEPENDENT | At this year’s Bell ObaFest, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) continued its strong advocacy for responsible drinking through activations and messages on moderation, zero tolerance for drink driving and environmental sustainability through eco-friendly waste management.

According to the festival’s Waste Management partners, Asante Waste Management, 2 tons of waste materials were accumulated during the 3-day festival; of these, 56% were recycled and 44% were reused as animal feed.

The responsible drinking initiative featured a variety of engaging activities and delivered key safety messages to revelers through quick surveys and information sessions to highlight the importance of responsible drinking.

As part of the initiative, Uganda Breweries distributed over 2,400 bottles of free Rwenzori Water through its partnership with Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, providing hydration points at all beer service locations, using hydration and water dispensers at every opportunity.

Uganda Breweries Corporate Affairs Manager, Positive Drinking Brenda Kobutungi, stated that UBL’s commitment to consumer satisfaction goes beyond just delivering great beer, creating safer and more enjoyable experiences for everyone.

“While people enjoy our wide selection of beverages, we strive to ensure they do so carefully and responsibly. For every 2-3 beers, our teams are there to encourage hydration and our Safe Boda partnership has worked to deter drink driving.” Kobutungi said.

Bell Lager Brand Manager, Lilian Kansiime, applauded responsible drinking initiatives, reiterating the importance of safety and moderation while having fun.

“This year’s Bell ObaFest was the perfect blend of entertainment and education, with over 3,000 people participating in our Wrong Side of the Road (anti-drunk driving) Campaign. “We are proud to bring people together for a great time while reinforcing the importance of safety and moderation.” Kansiime appeared.

To keep festival-goers entertained about responsible drinking, the event featured a variety of games including basketball, football, darts, board games and karaoke.

The winners of these competitions competed with prizes such as vacuum cups, water bottles, umbrellas and shirts.

One of the highlights of the festival was the completion of the “survey of 3,060 participants”. This interactive drink driving awareness tool allowed attendees to consider the consequences of impaired driving, allowing the festival to focus on safety and what it means to drink alcohol responsibly.

UBL has demonstrated its commitment to promoting a safe and enjoyable festival experience for everyone through this Responsible Drinking initiative.
