Son charged with burglary and death of mother in Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A man has been charged with a burglary in Buren, Van County that led to the death of his mother on Halloween morning.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office (VBCSO), the theft occurred in the Sister Lakes area of ​​Keeler Township.

A 55-year-old woman was reportedly found unresponsive. First responders tried to save her life, but the woman died at the scene. She has since been identified as Gloria White, who deputies say is the suspect’s mother.

The suspect, Aidan White, 23, of Benton Harbor, was arrested near the scene of the crime, the sheriff’s office said. He was arraigned Friday on charges of open first-degree murder and home invasion.

Aiden was given a $2 million cash/surety bond. He remains in custody at the Van Buren County Jail awaiting his next hearing, which is scheduled for December 11.
