Fairfield County deputies arrest woman in connection with credit card fraud case

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– Fairfield County deputies A woman has been arrested in connection with a credit card fraud case, the sheriff’s office said.

On Oct. 16, multiple residents in Winnsboro reported unauthorized credit card charges involving CVS.

Fairfield County deputies determined that CVS employee Shy’Lexis Coleman was involved in the incident.

Investigators say they have seen security camera footage that shows Coleman secretly taking photos of victims’ cards.

When he was arrested, Coleman admitted to having multiple photos of other credit cards on his phone.

Deputies believe others were involved and are continuing to investigate.

Individuals are encouraged to review their statements regularly and report any suspicious activity immediately.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents of important steps to protect your financial information:

1. Consider Your Card: Be careful when giving out your credit or debit card. If possible, keep it in your field of vision during procedures.
2. Watch for Suspicious Behavior: Take note if someone holds your card out of your line of sight or near their personal device.
3. Monitor Transactions Regularly: Check your bank statements and set alerts to quickly detect unauthorized charges.
4. Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice unauthorized transactions, immediately contact your card issuer and report it to local authorities.
