Sale of Lufkin Mall halted due to tax settlement

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) – The sale of the Lufkin Mall was prevented by the payment of outstanding taxes.

Taxes totaling more than $1 million were paid by the mall’s parent company, according to the Angelina County Tax Collector’s Office. The mall was scheduled to go up for auction on November 5, with an estimated starting bid of $1,028,811.78. The sale will no longer proceed, the office said.

Lufkin Mall’s parent company, Lufkin Mall Realty Holding LLC, owed taxes for 2022 and 2023, according to Angelina County Tax Assessor Billie Page. A tax return shows the City of Lufkin, Angelina County, Angelina College and Lufkin ISD are the entities owed money. totaling more than $1 million.
