He is in custody for allegedly harassing people – FBC News

A man is in custody for allegedly being drunk and harassing people in Lautoka this morning.

The Fiji Police Force said some members of the public assisted a police officer who responded to a report of the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said that in the video circulating on social media, the police officer reacted and a group of men stepped in to help while the police were trying to arrest the suspect who was resisting arrest.

The suspect was arrested and taken to his place of residence.

ACP Driu emphasized that Police officers face different situations every day and consider appropriate action and are careful not to use excessive force when exercising their powers.

He appreciates the efforts of those who assisted the officers.
