WARRENSBURG – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Warrensburg sex offender for allegedly texting a 15-year-old boy and inviting him to have sex.

The Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 32-year-old Duke N. Barrett on Thursday. The Sheriff’s Office said an investigation revealed that Barrett, a Level 1 registered sex offender and NYS parolee, sent a text message to a 15-year-old woman he knew.

Barrett was charged with first-degree dissemination of indecent material to a minor and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Barrett was arraigned in Warren County Central Arbitration District Court and remanded to the Warren County Department of Corrections for failure to post bail. The incident occurred in August 2024, the Sheriff’s Office said.

State Police arrest Saratoga Springs man for alleged theft

WILTON – State Police arrested a Saratoga Springs man Sunday following an alleged burglary at a restaurant in Greenfield.

David Gregson, 57, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Oct. 27 with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

On Oct. 26, troopers were contacted by a restaurant on Maple Avenue in Greenfield reporting a past theft. State Police say the investigation determined Gregson allegedly broke into the restaurant and damaged the building earlier in the evening. While inside the building, Gregson reportedly stole money and fled on foot.

Gregson was in Saratoga Springs, where State Police reported his arrest a few hours later. He was transported to SP Wilton for processing. Gregson was arraigned in Wilton City Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Department of Corrections without bail.

Virginia Jakway, 39, was arrested Wednesday and charged with violating NYS penal code chapter for third-degree possession of stolen property, a class D felony, and vehicle and traffic law violations for driving while intoxicated, a third-degree aggravated misdemeanor. unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an accident with material damage and driving over the shoulder.

The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of ​​Lake Shore Drive in Lake George Township around 10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle crash in which the female driver fled on foot.

The Sheriff’s Office said after an investigation, it was determined that Jakway had taken an acquaintance’s vehicle from his home and then crashed into a guide rail while driving south on Lake Shore Drive. Jakway was chemically tested and found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.11% and was arrested and charged. New York State law says that if a person drives with a BAC of 0.08% or higher, they are violating the law.
