Slovakia will join China-Brazil “peace initiative” on Ukraine

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that his country will join the “Friends of Peace” group, established by the joint initiative of China and Brazil, for the peaceful resolution of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This is according to the report prepared by MFA China after Fico’s meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, Ukrinform correspondent reported.

During the talks, Xi and Fico discussed the Russia-Ukraine war, among other issues.

The Chinese leader noted Beijing’s principled position in promoting a political solution to the “Ukraine crisis” (as the PRC refers to Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine).

Xi also praised Slovakia’s “objective, rational and fair attitude” towards Russia’s war against Ukraine and invited Slovakia and other like-minded countries to work alongside China to promote peace and negotiations between Moscow and Kiev .

Fico also praised China and described Beijing’s stance as “fair, objective and constructive”.

He noted that Slovakia will join the “Friends of Peace” platform, created at the initiative of China and Brazil, with the aim of promoting a political solution to the conflict.

Fico arrived in Beijing on October 31 for a state visit that ends on November 5. After Fico’s meeting with Xi on November 1, Slovakia and China announced the upgrade of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.

As Ukrinform previously reported, during the UN General Assembly in New York in September, China, Brazil and some other countries agreed to create the “Friends of Peace” platform, within which they plan to promote the peaceful resolution of the “Ukrainian crisis”. .

The exact number of participants in the initiative is not yet clear, but during its presentation, 15 countries announced their participation, including Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Hungary.
