Hardik Garg, a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana, made news by securing All India Rank 2 in the prestigious UPSC NDA exam. The main reason for his success is his dedication, discipline and unwavering support of his family. Growing up in an educated family of teachers and businessmen, Hardik’s father, a Senior Lecturer at MMDU Ambala, has always prioritized his son’s education above all else. Not just his hard work and discipline, Garg also had the goal of making a career in the armed forces from an early age; this enabled him to secure this position. Since childhood he had been fascinated by the lifestyle and discipline associated with the armed forces.

Hardik joined Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in 8th grade in 2019 and the RIMC environment provided him with a military life experience with essential skills such as leadership, discipline, teamwork and dedication. The day started with reveille at 5:00 am, followed by PT and drill sessions. After lunch, practices and other physical activities, and evening roll call at 6 p.m., study time or preparations would begin for students, allowing them to focus on their academic studies. This strict routine helped his overall development.

Hardik’s journey to prepare for the NDA exam was full of challenges. Even though he could not pass the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview in the first attempt, his friends and mentors constantly supported him. Despite this, he saw his failure as a learning opportunity and worked even harder for his second attempt. His roommate Anmol also played an important role by inspiring him.

Hardik believes that his time at RIMC and the challenges he faced made him very strong mentally and physically. He stands out as the symbol of dedication and excellence and his success in the NDA exam is an inspiring story for every defense aspirant in the country who dreams of serving their nation.
