Abia government. denies claims that the new minimum wage is not implemented

The Abia State Government has described as false and misleading the information given by the national leadership of the Organized Labor Party that Abia is among the 14 States that are yet to implement the new National Minimum Wage and should therefore initiate an industrial action.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Caleb Ajagba, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Government House, Umuahia, during a meeting with the Organized Labor Party in the state.

He said Abia was one of the first states to introduce the new wage for its workers and that the implementation has been in place since October this year.

Also, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC), Okoro Ogbonnaya, and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Comrade Ihechi Eneogwe, confirmed that the Abia State government has started implementing the new minimum wage from October this year.
