Dinnington youth boxing gym celebrates huge lottery fund raise

Mr Huddleston said their success was measured by the impact it had on participants.

“Our goal is to get young people back to where they need to be, whether that means improving their physical or mental health, their confidence or just opening up,” she said.

“They may see something in boxing and want to do it, or they may not want to, but it may give them a small part of what they need to be successful in life.”

Dinnington High School executive headteacher Phil Davis said the club offered students “belongingness and togetherness”.

“I think it is fair to say that for some of our young people, the traditional curriculum is not preferred, it is not what inspires and motivates them,” he said.

“DC Boxing gives them the opportunity to grow and succeed in something beyond the classroom.”
